Who God Is

We believe that there is one, and only one, living, eternal, and true God, and in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons––the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit––equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; I Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; I Timothy 1:17; Matthew 28:19; John 15:16, 26)

• God the Father
We believe that God is the eternal, self-existent, personal spirit; He is infinite in knowledge; infinite in wisdom; and infinite in power. He is everywhere; He is the sovereign Creator and Sustainer. We believe that God is absolutely holy, perfect, righteous, loving and just. We believe that He is the Spiritual Father of those who have been born again. (Genesis 1:1; John 3:3; John 4:24, John 1:12; Acts 15:18; 1 John 4:8-16)

• God the Son
We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of Mary, a virgin, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men; and that He is both the Son of God, and God the Son. (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:35)

• God the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine Person, equal with God the Father and God the Son, and of the same nature. It is He who convicts of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He is the restrainer of the Evil One until God’s purpose is fulfilled. He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel, and is the Agent in the new birth, baptizing all true believers into the body of Christ. It is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be filled with the Spirit. (John 14:16, 17, 26; Matthew 28:19; Hebrews 9:14; Luke 1:35; II Thessalonians 2:7; Ephesians 5:18)

God's Word

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbal and plenary inspired Word of God.  The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life. (II Peter 1:19-21; II Timothy 3:15-17)

We beleive the sixty-six books of the Old Testament (The Masoretic Text) and New Testament (Received Text, also known as the Textus Receptus) are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man. We believe the Word of God is preserved in the King James Version for English speaking people. The only Bible we use in English language settings is the King James Version.

Salvation

We believe Salvation is an act of God's grace attained by faith alone through Christ alone, and is the greatest need of every person.

•  All Have Sinned (Romans 3:23)

Sin is anything that displeases God. After Adam, the first human created by God, chose to sin, sin became the default nature of humanity.

•  Our Sin Separates Us From God (Romans 6:23)

Wages are what we get for what we've done. What we get for our sin is death; not only the first, physical death, but also the second, eternal death, separated from God in the lake of fire for all eternity. This is the default path for all of humanity, unless they accept the gift of Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior.

•  God Provided a Way for Us (Romans 5:8)

The word "commendeth" is not commonly used today, but it means "directed". When the Bible says that God commendeth His love toward us while we were sinners, this means that while we actively worked against God through our sin, He still loved us enough to provide a means of reconciliation––establishing a right relationship with Him––through the sacrificial, substitutionary death on our behalf, the burial, and the resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.

•  A Gift Must Be Received By You to be Yours (Romans 10:9-10)

The Bible says that even the devils believe in God. In order to receive God's free to you gift of Salvation, which cannot be earned through good works or purchased by you (Ephesians 2:8-9), you must confess and beleive that Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection are the only way to restore your relationship to Him. Many have said Jesus is Lord, while relying on their works to get them to Heaven, but it is only through Jesus Christ that Salvation is available (John 14:6)!

•  Salvation Is Available to All (Romans 10:13)

God's promises are always true. Both of His promises found in Romans 6:23 are true; the promise of damnation for those who do not choose Him, and the promise of Salvation for those who do. Salvation is not the default for all of humanity, but God has made it available to any and all who choose to accept it (2 Peter 3:9).

•  Salvation is Secure (John 10:28)

Once someone has received God's gift of Salvation through Christ Jesus, that Salvation can never be undone!

Baptism

We believe that Scriptural Baptism is by single immersion of born again Christians only, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It has no merit in salvation, but rather is a step of obedience; baptism is the outward sign of an inward belief, and identifies the convert with the Lord Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 3:6; Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 23:42-43; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12, 36-39; Colossians 2:12; Romans 6:3-5)

The Church

We believe that the church of Christ is a congregation of believers associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ, and governed by His laws. We believe the true mission of the church is to follow the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

We hold that the local Independent Fundamental Baptist church has the absolute right of congregational self-government, free from any interference of any hierarchy or individuals or organizations, and that the one and only Head is the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:41-42; I Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 5:23-24)

These statements do not exhaust the extent of our faith.  The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.  We do believe, however, that the above statements of faith accurately represent the teaching of the Bible.
